Bilobo Glass Pendant for Flos by Afra & Tobia Scarpa
Italy, 1960s
This Bilobo pendant by Afra and Tobia Scarpa distills a typically 1960s Italian idea: structure reduced to the minimum, with the glass doing the expressive work. The form is anchored by a restrained anodized aluminium sleeve, from which a compact, double-lobed shade is suspended like a small body in orbit.
The glass here is a more pronounced, granular variant—semi-opaque and irregular, with embedded silica-like inclusions that scatter the bulb’s glow into a soft, atmospheric light. The stated height refers to the glass shade including the suspension; the glass body itself is 30 cm long.
Vintage condition with wear consistent with age; minor surface marks and patina to metal elements, and small irregularities in the glass inherent to the material and production.
We also hold a matching pair of Bilobo pendants in a different glass pattern, presented separately in another listing.
Please note: Lamp should be fitted professionally in accordance to local requirements.
