The chair consists of a frame with a sling seat and backrest made from leather. The butterfly chair was designed by Argentine architects Juan Kurchan, Antonio Bonet, and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, who were inspired by the folding chairs used by indigenous people in South America. The chair became popular in the United States during the mid-20th century and has since become an iconic piece of modern furniture. Its simple yet stylish design and comfortable seating make it a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor use.
