Salad Servers made of Horn by Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Austria - 1960s
This pair of salad servers is carved from natural horn, shaped into long, tapering scoops that feel almost calligraphic in profile. The surfaces shift from deep chocolate to translucent honey tones, with soft striations and cloudy veining that make each piece subtly different.
The forked tips are cut with a simple three-prong detail, while the opposing server remains a smooth blade-like form—together creating a balanced, pared-back set where function is expressed through contour. Light in the hand and visually warm on the table, they read as utilitarian objects with an understated sculptural presence.
Vintage condition with wear consistent with age; light surface scratches and small edge marks visible.
