Stoneware Wall Clock by Roger Capron # 1
France 1960s
This charming wall clock is a beautiful example of Roger Capron’s poetic ceramic work. Made from textured stoneware, it features Capron’s signature engraved illustration: a romantic couple standing beneath a tree, surrounded by birds, flowers, and floating heart motifs. The upper portion forms a rounded clock face, where small heart-shaped markers replace traditional numerals, framed by a delicate laurel wreath.
The clock mechanism is mounted on the back, allowing it to hang flat against the wall. Signed *Peynet* at the lower right, this piece reflects Capron’s collaborations and his affinity for lyrical, storybook imagery.
A delightful decorative object and a collectible example of mid-century French ceramic design.
