Solid Studio Dining Table in Oak
France - 1940s
During production, the wooden parts are submitted through a specialized process whereby the wood is dipped into acid in order to soften the fibers of the wood. Softened fibers are then removed using a metal wire brush. This sophisticated process, which was popularized in France by designers such as Elizabeth Eyre de Lanux and Jean Michel Frank, improves the surface of the wood by creating greater depth and texture within the wood grain, resulting in a much more detailed and visually appealing surface.
