T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings was a furniture designer who became famous for his modernist designs in the mid-20th century. Born in the UK in 1905, he moved to New York City in the early 1930s and started working as a freelance furniture designer. In 1936, Robsjohn-Gibbings founded his own furniture company, which quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality, modernist designs. His furniture was characterized by clean lines, minimal ornamentation, and the use of exotic materials such as bamboo, rattan, and bronze. Robsjohn-Gibbings became one of the leading furniture designers of his time, and his work was highly sought after by wealthy clients and celebrities. He also designed furniture for prominent public spaces, such as the United Nations headquarters in New York City. T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings died on April 10, 1976, in Athens, Greece, where he had been living for many years. Today, his furniture designs are highly collectible and are considered to be important examples of Mid-century modern design.
