Wall Mirror in Teak by Drexel

USA - 1950s

Drexel Furniture Company was a furniture manufacturer based in North Carolina, USA. The company was founded in 1903 by Samuel Huffman and his son, Fred, and was named after the nearby town of Drexel. In the 1940s and 1950s, the company collaborated with several prominent designers, including Edward Wormley, Kipp Stewart, and John Van Koert, to create furniture lines that combined clean lines, elegant forms, and high-quality craftsmanship. Drexel Furniture Company continued to produce furniture throughout the 20th century, and in the 1960s and 1970s, the company expanded into new markets, including office furniture and upholstered seating. In 1986, the company was acquired by Masco Corporation, and the Drexel brand continued to be used for several years before eventually being phased out. Today, vintage Drexel furniture is highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century modern design.
