George Nakashima’s Lounge Chair is an iconic example of American–Japanese design. Following the natural grain of the wood, Nakashima accentuates its organic characteristics, revealing nature’s inherent beauty. The chair’s sculpted form and hand-carved spindles draw inspiration from traditional American Windsor chairs, uniting craftsmanship, simplicity, and harmony with nature. Created for an exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2018 and signed underneath the seat. The Chair is in perfect condition.
